SELF IDENTITY-a solid base for career success.

Self-identity is to possess an accurate in depth knowledge of self. Self- identity is being able to define yourself and the role you’re cut out to play on the planet. An in depth and accurate knowledge of self is a necessary criteria in knowing the best career path for you. In most cases people who end up becoming square pegs in round holes are victims of lack of self knowledge and identity.

It is the folly of proper identification of self that pushes a cockroach to challenge a strutting cock to a fight. It eventually becomes the cock’s dinner. Men or women who get to the pinnacle of their chose careers in life at one point in their life’s journey saw clearly who they were and the role they were created to fit into. And exactly like as a right key opens a door or gate, their lives opened up when they stepped into the roles they were made to fit into. On the other hand, others struggled thru life not because they were born with no talent, but their talent was in their possession like a wrong key being used to open the wrong lock. They never truly identified themselves.

KNOW WHO YOU ARE:
It is a tragedy for an eagle not realise that it is one, in the midst of other birds. Such an eagle would live perpetually below its full potential; scratching dirt with chicken instead of soaring high to catch it’s prey. The first clue to knowing who you are, is to carefully note the kind of features; spiritual, physical, mental or psychological that mother nature has endowed you with. For example, an eagle’s beak is naturally not suitable for pecking tiny grains on the floor but for tearing the flesh of its prey. Again, unlike the chicken, its wings were not meant for it to roost in one dirty farm house but to instead soar with the wind and build its nest on the peak of rocks and mountains.

Self-identity calls for proper and careful self analysis; what do you think about yourself? For example do you sincerely think and believe you can do what that great baseball or basket ball player is doing? Or you just know that you can argue more logically that that intelligent lawyer though you haven’t been trained? Life knows that you can that’s why such thoughts come to you often.

Looking at a eaglet, especially when it’s still quite young, still being fed by its mother, you would scarcely believe that it would grow into a strong eagle some day.

The mother eagle takes the time to help young ones develop their raw abilities into mature and useful characteristics. When the time comes for them to learn how to fly, she picks them up with her beak and soars with them far up into the skies and leaves them to struggle with the earth’s gravitational pull on them by themselves. When they are close to hitting the ground she stylishly spreads her large wings under them as a soft landing pad. This way they learn to overcome the fear of falling. They also begin to develop strength and power in their wings by flapping them desperately. A routine repetition of this exercise and the young eaglets soon become graduates of their mother’s flight school.

Not so with many Homo Sapiens, many of them dream and aspire but they’re just too lazy and laid back to come out of their comfortable armchairs and develop their raw talents and abilities that will make them become professionals in their chosen careers. Self-identity is easy. That man or woman that has achieved what you’re aspiring to achieve is your mirror. The abilities you see in him now were once like your own. They simply applied themselves to develop those talents and abilities. They paid the price, sacrificed time and effort before they attained the result you’re seeing in them now. Take time to identify yourself and actualise your self. It’s up to you!
