PERSISTENCE!

PERSISTENCE
Is wisdom in a sense!
Though never always convenient,
This one virtue of saints,
They call it persistence.
Persisting is insisting,
Desisting from quitting,
Resisting, despites' uninteresting,
Reaching always for good finishing.
The persistent are intent,
Unrelenting and unspent,
Bent on their ascent,
They’re giants undeterred.
It has brought commoners before kings,
Some from crawling to ruling,
The derided became the presiding,
By simply persisting!

Those who realize that persistence may mean the difference between success and failure do not fail to check at every point in time in their life's pursuit if they're exhibiting this trait. Life always have a way of throwing challenges at you when ever you begin any worth while venture. Many folks who are enlisted amongst the 'also ran' in various areas of life would have been found in the front row of 'successful pioneers' if only they had this virtue of persistence in their lives. Please take note that this virtue of persistence is not always an orphan, it is in most cases seen in people who exhibit such moral virtues as courage and fortitude.

Courage is to persistence just like fuel is to an Automobile; no matter how new the engine is or how powerful it is, it will never move without fuel in its tank. You need courage to be able to say never, never give up! I have discovered that successful people do not see the virtue of persistence as something you acquire once and for all; instead they keep subjecting themselves to undergoing the necessary self discipline required to persist at doing what needs to be done at every point in time. Depending on the goal you desire to attain, never expect that the level of courage you exhibited in your last project would be the same. Great soccer teams for example put in more fight when faced with a tougher more experienced team than a weaker one, so it is with persistence.

ENEMIES OF PERSISTENCE:
1. loss of Passion: Continuity most times is easier when you're passionate about what you're involved in. What you don't see as necessary in your life or worth attaining you naturally loose the zeal for its pursuit, and loss of zeal most times means discontinuity. So to maintain your level of persistence you must find a way of renewing your passion for your purpose. Great passion can move you to great action.
2. Failure of others: if you have a habit of watching how others who are in the same line of business or career as you, are doing their own, you may also be tempted to quit when some one who you think is doing better than you quits. To succeed in this race of life you must run your own race even as you run with others. You must make your own personal decisions and stick with them. Realize that many are yet to come and begin that same business or venture and still succeed at it. Therefore always give your self a reason to continue.
3. Another vision: Those who lack self-discipline most times do not have the strength of character to stay put and finish strong, they have the habit of jumping from one unfinished project to another. One of the strongest reasons that people give for quitting is that they have caught another vision. The only proof that you will stay with that your so called new vision is when you see to it that you have made a success of this one.
